10 Effective Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Laryngitis

Does your voice sound more like a frog croaking than a human talking? 1. Apple Cider Vinegar Mix:

Apple cider vinegar kills bacteria and thus can be used to cure laryngitis. Add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and one tablespoon of honey in half a cup of water. To increase its effectiveness, you can add a little cayenne pepper too. Drink this mixture twice a day to treat laryngitis.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar:

Prepare a solution by mixing one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. Gargle with this solution at least 2-3 times a day until you get relief from sore throat. While you gargle, the acidic environment created in the mouth helps in killing the bacteria and soothes your vocal cord.

3. Onion Syrup Mixture:

Cut 3-4 medium sized onions into small pieces. Simmer the pieces in four cups of water until it thickens to syrup-like consistency. Mix five tablespoons of the onion syrup in a glass of warm water. Add one tablespoon of honey and few drops of lemon juice to it. Then, sip this mixture slowly to get quick relief from laryngitis.

4. Ginger:

Boil thinly sliced fresh ginger root in a covered pan of water for about 10 minutes. Strain the liquid and allow it to cool down to room temperature. Drink this several times a day.

5. Warm Salt Water:

Warm salt water helps kill bacteria and viruses. It also promotes healing of your inflamed vocal cord and sore throat. Just add half teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water and gargle with it. Do this as many times as possible in a day. Keep in mind that too much salt can irritate your throat further. So, it is important to use only the appropriate amount of salt.

6. Lemon Juice:

The acidic nature of lemon juice can kill bacteria and relieve various symptoms of laryngitis. Squeeze one lemon and add a pinch of salt to it. Mix it well. Then, add it to a cup of lukewarm water. Use this solution to gargle several times a day. Lemon juice also stimulates the production of saliva and helps loosen mucus in your throat.

7. Garlic:

The antimicrobial property in garlic can also kill bacteria and viruses. Cut a fresh garlic clove into two pieces and put one on each side of your mouth. Then, try sucking the juice from the garlic slowly. Do this several times a day to get relief from various symptoms of laryngitis.

8. Slippery Elm:

Slippery elm contains mucilage, a gel-like substance, which can relieve inflamed or irritated tissues. Put some fresh slippery elm in water. Swallow the gel several times a day to get relief from sore throat. For treatment of laryngitis, you can try tea or lozenges made with slippery elm. Breastfeeding or pregnant women should not try this remedy.

9. Honey:

Of all the laryngitis home remedies honey is the most preferred by many! Honey can be highly beneficial for soothing an irritated sore throat due to its astringent property. It also reduces inflammation. The simplest use is to swallow raw honey several times a day.

10. Eucalyptus Oil:

It’s anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties make eucalyptus oil one of the best ingredients to soothe a sore throat. The best way to use eucalyptus oil is to breathe in its steam. Add few drops of eucalyptus oil to a pan of hot boiling water. Cover your head with a towel and inhale the steam for about 10 minutes. Follow this remedy twice a day to heal sore throat naturally.
