VYOO VYA KUKAA VINA STAREHE KUBWA LAKINI NI ‘MAJANGA’ KWA WATUMIAJI


Waswahili husema, ‘nyumba ni choo’, wakiwa na maana kuwa nyumba haiwezi kuwa kamili bila kuwa na huduma hiyo ya choo.

Hata hivyo, pamoja na umuhimu wa choo, lakini si kila nyumba iliyo na choo au hata zile ambazo zina huduma hiyo, basi vyoo ni vibovu, havina hadhi. Zipo aina mbalimbali za vyoo kwa matumizi ya binadamu katika maisha yake ya kawaida.

Vyoo vina matumizi mengi ingawa  bado  watu wengi  hasa katika nchi maskini na zinazoendelea ikiwamo Tanzania wanatumia choo cha kuchuchumaa wakati wa kujisaidia, lakini mijini na katika nchi zilizoendelea, wao hutumia vyoo vya kukaa.

Nyumba nyingi mijini na ofisi mbalimbali zinazojengwa hivi sasa, huwekewa vyoo vya kukaa. Hata zile za zamani zinakarabatiwa na kubadilishwa kwa kuwekewa hivi ambavyo vinaonekana vya ‘kisasa’.
Mgunduzi wa vyoo vya aina hii, Thomas Crapper anasema kwa mtazamo wake aliona kukaa wakati wa kujisaidia ni utambulisho wa ustaarabu na maendeleo.

Hata hivyo, madaktari wanapingana naye wakisema kujisaidia katika vyoo vya kukaa kuna madhara kiafya kwa kuwa mkao huo unaweza kuleta matokeo mbalimbali ndani ya mwili.

Utafiti uliofanywa na mtandao wa ‘naturesplatform’ umegundua kuwa matumizi ya choo cha kukaa huweza kusababisha matatizo mbalimbali ikiwemo kansa ya utumbo mkubwa.

Mtaalamu wetu wa afya Samwel Shita anasema, madhara ya vyoo vya kukaa ni makubwa kwani wakati mwingine yanaweza kuwa chanzo cha saratani ya  utumbo mkubwa kutokana na haja kubwa kubaki kwa muda mrefu katika utumbo huo.

Shita anasema mtu anapojisaidia haja kubwa katika choo cha kuchuchumaa, kinasaidia haja yote kutoka kwa sababu ya msukumo unaosababishwa na mkao huo.

“Unapokaa unakuwa umekaa katika choo mwili unakuwa umelegea, hivyo inabidi utumie nguvu kubwa kujikamua kutoa haja, tofauti na unapochuchumaa,” anasema Shita na kuongeza:
“Matatizo huanza hapo, unapojisaidia ukiwa umekaa na kulazimisha kujikamua unaweza kusababisha vimishipa vidogo katika utumbo mpana sehemu ya haja kubwa ya ndani na ya nje kuvimba na maumivu makali husababishwa na ugonjwa unaojulikana kama ‘hemorrhoid,” anasema.

Anasema ‘hemorrhoid’ ni ugonjwa ambao pia huitwa bawasiri. Mgonjwa hupata uvimbe katika njia ya haja kubwa na hivyo kupata maumivu wakati wa kujisaidia na haja yake mara nyingine huambatana na damu.

Aidha, anasema vyoo hivi pia vinaweza kuwa chanzo cha magonjwa yanayotokana na shambukizi katika utumbo  mpana, kitaalamu ‘Inflammatory Bowel Disease’.

“Kila binadamu anapaswa kujisaidia na kuhakikisha haja yote imetoka na kwisha kabisa, inapobakia inaweza kusababisha maambukizi katika utumbo mpana kwa kuwa ule ni uchafu wenye mchanganyiko wa vitu vingi,” anasema Shita.

“Haja kubwa inapokuwa tayari imeshajitengeneza inapaswa kutoka yote, kama itabaki kipindi kirefu inaweza pia kuleta uambukizi katika utumbo mkubwa na hata katika kidole tumbo,” anasema Shita.

“Uchafu huu si tu unaweza kusababisha maambukizi, lakini pia unaweza kuwa chanzo cha saratani ya utumbo mkubwa. Wote tunajua kuwa mkusanyiko wa sumu mbalimbali mwilini unakuweka katika hatari ya kupata saratani, hivyo tatizo hili lisipotafutiwa ufumbuzi mapema linaweza kufikia huku,” anasema Shita.

Daktari  Berko Sikirov kutoka Misri ambaye alifanyia utafiti matumizi ya vyoo vya kukaa anasema kuwa iwapo mtu ana  tatizo la vivimbe vya ‘hemorrhoid’ linaweza kumalizika iwapo ataacha kutumia vyoo vya kukaa.

Hata hivyo, anasisitiza kuwa tatizo hili linaweza kwisha kama litakuwa katika hatua za awali. Kwa wenye tatizo lililokomaa watalazimika kufuata matibabu kulingana na ukubwa wake.

Dk Sikirov anaongeza kuwa mbali na kupata vivimbe, pia mgonjwa anaweza kupata tatizo la kutokupata choo kwa muda mrefu.

Anabainisha kuwa kitendo cha haja kutoka kidogo na nyingine kubakia husababisha kuganda katika ukuta wa utumbo na zoezi hilo huendelea mpaka kuwa tatizo sugu.

“Haja kubwa huganda katika kuta za utumbo, hali hii huifanya haja izunguke kwa muda mrefu na ndiyo tatizo hili huanzia hapa,” anasema na kuongeza:
“Unapojisaidia ukiwa umekaa, ile njia ya haja kubwa huwa kama imejifunga, inabidi utumie nguvu nyingi sasa ukiwa na tatizo hili la kukosa haja kubwa huifanya itoke kwa uchache zaidi,” anasema Dk Sikirov.

Aidha, anasema kupata haja kubwa mara kwa mara ni muhimu kwa kuwa usipoitoa maana yake inazungusha sumu katika damu jambo ambalo ni hatari kwa afya.

Anaongeza kuwa kutopata haja kubwa ni kichocheo chenye uwezo mkubwa wa kusababisha saratani ya utumbo mkubwa na uambukizi katika kidole tumbo.

Tafsiri ya kitabibu inasema hali ya kukosa haja kubwa ni pale mtu anaposhindwa kuipata angalau mara tatu kwa wiki. Hata hivyo, ili ujue afya yako ni njema unapaswa kuwa unapata haja kubwa angalau mara moja kila siku.
Daktari Denis Burkitt aliwahi kuandika kitabu cha maelekezo ya chakula ili kuepuka ugonjwa wa saratani. Katika kitabu hicho alieleza namna ambavyo watu wanaweza kujikinga na saratani za aina mbalimbali.

Akizungumzia saratani ya utumbo mpana pamoja na kuelezea vyakula na aina ya maisha, pia aliwaasa watu kutumia choo cha kukaa ili kujiepusha na tatizo hilo.

Anaeleza kuwa kwa Marekani pekee, watu zaidi ya 150,000 hufa kila mwaka kutokana na ugonjwa wa saratani ya utumbo mkubwa.

Mtaalamu wa Ngozi katika Chuo Kikuu cha Sayansi ya Afya na Tiba Muhimbili (MUHAS), Profesa Kisali Pallangyo anasema matumizi ya vyoo hivyo yanaweza kuwa chanzo cha maambukizi ya magonjwa ya ngozi. Profesa Pallangyo anasema ni rahisi kuambukizwa magonjwa ya ngono na ngozi kwa urahisi pale unapotumia vyoo vya kukaa tofauti na vile vya kuchuchumaa.

Aidha, anayataja  magonjwa yanayoweza kuwambukizwa kwa kutumia vyoo vya kukaa kuwa ni kaswende, harara, mba, kisonono, upele na mengine.

“Mtu mwenye magonjwa ya ngozi au ya ngono, anaweza kuyaacha katika ‘sink’ anapolikalia, hivyo ni rahisi kwa mtu mwingine ‘kuyachukua’ mara atakapokaa wakati wa kujisaidia,” anasema Prof Pallangyo.

Anasema vyoo hivi ni hatari kwa afya hasa pale vinapotumika katika jumuiya na kuongeza kuwa ni bora kutumia vile vya kukaa ili kujikinga na magonjwa.

BEST ANTI-ASTHMA FOODS



There might not be a perfect cure for asthma, but we can find many superfoods with a nutrient profile that is particularly well suited for preventing and alleviating asthma symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing and chest tightness. Let’s take a look at 12 such foods and their asthma fighting qualities.


1. AVOCADOS 
- is one of the prime source of Glutathione, which has been shown to protect cells against free radical damage and to detoxify foreign substances such as pollutants. Without glutathione, other antioxidants would not be able not function efficiently. Avocados are also a good source of vitamin E, particularly for people whose asthma is linked to a nut allergy (nuts are one of the most common sources of vitamin E). However, if you have been diagnosed with a latex allergy, you may want to be careful with avocados, particularly non-organically grown produce. Many suggests that people who are allergic to latex are often also allergic to avocados and other foods that may contain substances called chitinases. Organically grown avocados not treated with ethylene gas contain lower levels of chitinases.

2. BROCCOLI SPROUTS
 - are true nutritional treasure and a great addition to yourdiet if you suffer from asthma. A recent study found that the study participantswho ate broccoli sprouts for 3 days had an increase in antioxidant compounds that control the airway inflammation associated with bronchial asthma. The effect was most pronounced in those who ate the most broccoli sprouts. Available at many health food stores and grocery stores, broccoli sprouts makea great addition to salads, soups, salsa-topped dishes, and sandwiches.

3. APPLES - Studies show that apples possess some extraordinary properties that may provide protection against asthma. One study discovered that pregnant women who ate apples protected their child from developing asthma. Another study found that by drinking apple juice daily children could reduce their chance of suffering from wheezing by 50%. These beneficial effects of apples may be linked to their high concentration of bioflavonoids, such as quercetin. Quercetin is known to possess strong anti-histamine, antioxidant, and anti-inflammato ry properties. When buying apples, be sure topurchase organically grown fruit: together with peaches, conventionally grownapples top the list of fruits that contain the highest levels of pesticides and other harmful chemicals.

4. BANANAS 
- Including bananas in your diet may help you breathe easier. According to a British study, children who ate just one banana a day had a 34% lower chance of developing asthmatic symptoms such as wheezing. The resultswhere not surprising considering that bananas are one of the best sources of pyridoxine, commonly known as vitamin B6. Pyridoxine plays a critical role in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), molecules that have been shown to help relax bronchial smooth muscle tissue.

5. GINGER - one of the oldest spices in the world, is well known for its cold treating powers, but it may also help alleviate asthma symptoms. Its asthma fighting properties are thought to be attributable to gingerols, strong anti-inflammato ry substances that also give ginger its distinctive flavor. Fresh ginger, which is said to be the most effective form of ginger, is available year round in the produce section of your local supermarket.

6. SPINACH - Popeye was right about one thing: you'd better eat your spinach! The nutritional profile of spinach makes it an excellent health food and an important functional food to be included in any anti-asthma diet. One study with 68,535 female participants found that women with a high intake of spinach had a lower prevalence of asthma. This is not surprising considering that spinach features a host of important asthma preventing nutrients, including beta-carotene (spinach is one of the best sources of beta-carotene there is), vitamin C, vitamin E, and magnesium. It also has a substantial potassium content in proportion to its calorie content: a 100 calorie serving provides about 40% of the reference daily intake for this important anti-asthma mineral.

7. ROSEMARY - It contains rosmarinic acid, that may help alleviate asthma symptoms due to its strong antioxidant and anti-inflammato ry properties. The antioxidant power of rosmarinic acid is believed to be even stronger than that of vitamin E. In addition, rosmarinic acid encourages cells to create prostacyclins, which help keep the air passages of the lungs open and thus promote easy breathing. Rosemary can be used to flavor fish, roast meats, and tomato sauces, but also fruits, especially oranges.

8. SUNFLOWER SEEDS 
- are brimming of anti-asthma nutrients, as these mild nutty tasting seeds are loaded with vitamin E, potassium, and magnesium. They are also a good source of selenium, with 1 cup providing more than 1/3 of the recommended daily intake for this important mineral. Furthermore, sunflower seeds are among the seeds and nuts that are least likely to cause allergic reactions in people. But, be careful while consuming them, as they are quite calorie-dense.

9. SWEET POTATOES - are one of the oldest vegetables known to man and one ofthe most nutritious too. Sweet potatoes are one of the foods that are least likely to cause allergic reactions, which is great news since asthma is often linked to allergies. What’s more, sweet potatoes contain plenty of vitamin C and potassium as well as unique root proteins which, according to preliminary studies, may have significant antioxidant properties. The pink, orange, and yellow varieties are also one of the most concentrated food sources of beta-carotene (the more intense the color, the more beta-carotene).

10. KALE - This relatively unknown member of the cabbage family is a nutritional powerhouse packed with vitamins and other phytochemicals that have been shown to alleviate symptoms associated with asthma. Not only is kale a great source of vitamin C, it is also one of the most concentrated dietary sources of beta-carotene (kale contains 10 times the beta-carotene of broccoli). Kale can be eaten raw, for example as a substitute for iceberg lettucein salads. The beautiful green leaves of kale can also be transformed into a savory warm dish by sautéing the leaves and mixing them with chopped onions, crushed garlic and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

11. TURMERIC
 - a spice that lends its yellow color to curries and many other foods, has long been used in traditional Asian medicine to treat asthma and many other conditions and diseases. In recent years, western medicine has started to pay greater attention to this extraordinary spice. Recent research suggests that turmeric possesses strong anti-inflammato ry properties. Although best known for its use in Indian style curries, turmeric can also be used to add flavor and color to fish, seafood, meat, rice, vegetable, and pasta dishes.


12. MUSTARD GREENS 
- Chock-full of antioxidants and nutrients, mustard greens can make an excellent addition to your diet if you are susceptible to asthma attacks. In addition to being one of the best sources of beta-carotene, they provide a good amount of vitamin C and vitamin E. The nutrients in mustard greens can remove free radicals that cause smooth muscle contraction and airway constriction in people with asthma. Moreover, they may aid in the breakdown of histamine. Mustard greens with their distinctly peppery flavor are available throughout the year and can be found in the produce section of your local supermarket.

Like said before, no food can actually “cure” asthma; but only provide relief for asthma symptoms, in a long run of consumption. So, if you are asthmatic, or prone to frequent attacks, don’t forget these nutrient-rich foods that may help alleviate your asthma symptoms.

BIZARI: KIUNGO CHA MBOGA CHENYE FAIDA NYINGI



Inawezekana katika maisha yako hujawahi kula mboga iliyowekwa kiungo kinachoitwa bizari, kama umewahi, inawezekana pia hujawahi kujua faida zake mwilini.

Bizari (Turmeric) ni kiungo cha mboga jamii ya mimea unaochimbwa kama mizizi, mfano wa tangawizi, lakini tangawizi yenyewe ina rangi ya njano na hujulikana pia kama ‘manjano’ kutokana na rangi yake.

FAIDA ZA BIZARI KIAFYA

MAUMIVU YA MAGOTI NA VISIGINO

TATIZO hili huwapata watu wote, maumivu ya magoti yanaweza kuwa makali au yakawa kwa mbali, vilevile magoti yanaweza kuvimba.
Maumivu haya yanaweza kuwa mbele ya goti au nyuma ya goti, maumivu yanapotokea mgonjwa hutembea kwa shida na kushindwa kunyanyuka akiwa amekaa.
Maumivu ya visigino huwa katika kisigino chote na hupanda kwa juu, wakati mwingine maumivu huwa kama sindano. Maumivu ya visigino yanaweza kuwa muda wote au yakatokea kwa vipindi, yaani asubuhi unapoamka inakuwa tabu kukanyaga chini lakini ukishakanyaga kwa muda fulani miguu inazoea na mwendo unakuwa wa kawaida na maumivu yanapungua.
CHANZO CHA TATIZO
Maumivu ya magoti hutokana na sababu mbalimbali, inaweza kusababishwa na kusimama au kutembea kwa muda mrefu ingawa siyo sana, ajali yoyote inayoumiza goti iwe barabarani, kuanguka au michezoni, maambukizi ya bakteria katika magoti kutokana na majeraha pia inaweza kuwa ni sababu.
Chanzo kingine ni ugonjwa wa Gauti, umri mkubwa hasa kwa kinamama pia huchangia uwepo wa tatizo hili pale mama anapofikia ukomo wa hedhi ambapo vichocheo vya ‘Estrogen’ vinaanza kupungua mwilini.
Matatizo haya ya magoti yana vyanzo vingi utakapoenda hospitali utapata ufafanuzi.
Maumivu ya visigino pia hutokea tu, huweza kusababishwa na kuumia hasa michezoni au kuvaa viatu vyenye soli ngumu na ukatembea navyo kwa mwendo mrefu.
Maumivu mengine hutokea nyuma ya mguu chini ya goti na kushuka hadi katika kisigino, husababisha misuli ya nyuma ya mguu kuuma au kukamata, wakati mwingine msuli hututumka kama mwanamichezo.
Hii inatokana na kutembea mwendo mrefu kwa kupanda milima, ngazi hasa ghorofani kama ni ghorofa refu sana na wewe kila siku unatumia ngazi.  Pia kuvaa viatu virefu na kutembea navyo mwendo mrefu.
DALILI ZA TATIZO
Maumivu ya magoti na visigino wakati mwingine huwa hayavumiliki. Maumivu huja na kupotea au huwa makali kwa mfululizo, maumivu yanaweza kutokea kwa kupwita kama ndani kuna jipu, goti linaweza kuwa kavu na kuhisi kabisa kama mifupa inagongana au kusuguana, wakati mwingine linakuwa na joto.
Visigino au nyuma ya miguu kunakuwa na maumivu kama kunawaka moto, ukipumzika na kuweka miguu juu utakuta yanapungua taratibu lakini ukikanyaga tu, yanaongezeka kwa kasi.
UCHUNGUZI
Mgonjwa anaweza kufanyiwa vipimo vya damu, x-ray na uchunguzi mwingine ambao daktari ataona unafaa. Uchunguzi hufanyika katika hospitali za mikoa na wilaya.
MATIBABU NA USHAURI
Magonjwa haya huwa yanatibika endapo mgonjwa atazingatia uchunguzi na matibabu kwa kufuatilia kwa kina.

SPINAL DISC (DISC ZA UTI WA MGONGO) ZINAVYOLETA MATATIZO MWILINI











Spinal Disc ni disk zinazokaa kati kati ya pingili “Spinal Vertebrae” za uti wa mgongo. Kuna wakati disk hizo hutoka sehemu yake na kusogea pembeni tatizo ambalo linajulikana kwa majina kadhaa kama vile

DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE au HERNIATED DISC au SLIPPED DISC. 

Tatizo hili husababisha maumivu makali ya mguu, mgongo, bega au Mkono. Maumivu haya huwa ni makali mno, katika mazingira mengine huuja na kutoweka, katika mazingira mengine maumivu haya huwa endelevu.

Naamini wengi wetu tumeshawahi kusikia au kuona ndugu, rafiki, jamaa, jirani fulani akiumwa mguu, mkono, bega au mgongo tena kwa maumivu makali sana.

Wengi wamehangaika hospitali nyingi bila mafanikio, wengine wamekimbilia kwenye huduma za maombezi na wengine wamekimbilia kwenye tiba mbadala na wengine wamekimbilia kwa Sangoma.

Ndugu Selemani Mkoba alinielezea tatizo hilo lilivyomtesa na baada ya kuhangaika hospitali kwa zaidi ya miezi 3 wakati wote kiteseka kwa maumivu makali na kupoteza hela nyingi bila mafanikio aliamua kwenda kwa waganga wa kienyeji.



Anasema Mganga alimpa matumaini makubwa lakini wiki kadhaa zikawa zinapita bila kupata unafuu wowote. Anasema Mgonga alikuwa akimpa matumaini kwa kumwambia ugonjwa unaingia ghafla lakini kutoka unatoka taratibu sana . Ndugu Mkoba anasema kwa bahati alipomwelezea tatizo hilo mmoja wa rafiki zake ambaye si daktari alimwambia aondoke haraka huko na kuwahi Muhimbili. Rafiki yake huyo alimweleza kuwa analifahamu tatizo hilo.


Ndugu Mkoba amasema alienda Muhimbili kama alivyoshauriwa na rafiki yake, akafanyiwa kipimo cha MRI ambapo waligundua tatizo hilo katika uti wa mgongo na kupangiwa siku ya upasuaji. Alifanyiwa upasuaji na alipozinduka alikuwa na maumivu makali ya wastani yatokanayo na upasuaji tu .. maumivu ya mguu hayakuwepo tena. Maumivu yatokanayo na upasuaji yaliendelea kupungua na sasa ni miezi mitatu amebakiwa na maumivu madogo sana mbayo yanaendelea kupoteza huku akiendelea na mazoezi. Anaweza kuendesha Gari, anaweza kutembea na kufanya shughuli zake ambazo zilisimama. Aidha Ndugu Mkoba anasema angependa watu wajue hili ili wasi mateso aliyoyapata yeye na walio kwenye mateso hayo wapate ufumbuzi haraka maana ni mateso yanayotisha.



MGAWANYIKO WA UTI WA MGONGO NA MATOKEO YA DISCK ZINAPOCHEZA

Uti wa mgongo umegawanyika katika aina kuu zipatazo nne (4) za pingili “Spinal Vertebrae”
Cervical Curve: Hili ni eneo la juu la uti wa mgongo, Eneo hili linaanzia uti wa mgongo unpokutana na kichwa na kuishia eneo la mwisho la Shingo, kwa lugha nyepesi ndilo eneo linalomiliki shingo, pingili zilizopo katika eneo hili zinaitwa “Cervical Vertebrae”.

· Maeneo yanayoathiriwa na Disc kucheza katika eneo hili “Cervical Disc Herniation” ni Mikono au Mabega au kifua, moja wapo ya viungo hivi vitapata maumivu makali sana.


Thoracic Curve: Hili ni eneo la uti wa mgongo linalofuatia kuelekea chini likianzia inapoishia Shingo, Eneo hili linaishia katikati ya mgongo, kwa lugha nyepesi eneo hili ndilo linalomilike mbavu. Pingili zinazopatikana katika eneo hili zinaitwa “Thoracic Vertebrae”.

· Kucheza kwa disck katika eneo hili kutakusababishia maumivu makali ya Mgongo eneo la juu ya Kiuno.

Lumbar Curve: Eneo hili linaanzia inapoishia Thoracic Curve na kuelekea chini na kukutana na Eneo linaloitwa Sacral Curve au eneo la kiuno linapoanzia. Eneo la Lumba linazungukwa na ma matumbo na mazagazaga mengine yasiyokuwa na mifupa. Pingili za uti wa mgongo zinazopatikana katika eneo hili zinaitwa “Lumbar Vertebrae”
