Herbal Remedies For Cardiovascular Disease




Cardiovascular disease is a condition associated with the blood vessels and heart. This condition refers to any disorder that primarily disturbs the cardiac system. The most common problem is hypertension and atherosclerosis.
There are several reasons for cardio vascular disorders some of which are aging, lifestyle, smoking, drinking, unhealthy food etc.  Several herbs are effective and beneficial in treating the cardio vascular system. A few herbal remedies to treat cardio vascular diseases are discussed below.

Hawthorn

From ancient times Hawthorn berries have proven beneficial in the treatment of cardio vascular disease. This herb helps in dilating the coronary arteries and improves the energy metabolism and oxygenation in the heart. It also reduces the lactic acid and the waste materials caused due to exertion, which leads to muscle pain in the heart.

Metabolism and the pumping capacity of the heart improves, which in turn relaxes the blood vessels. The berries as well as the flowers of this herb have medicinal qualities. This herb can be had as a decoction or tincture. The fresh berries could also be consumed to protect the heart. An infusion prepared with one portion of the berry decoction and 2 portions of honey could also be used. This herb should be used regularly for a longer period of time to see better results.

Motherwort

In the traditional Chinese medicine, motherwort has been utilized to strengthen the heart and enhance longetivity. Western countries use this herb as a tonic to maintain heart health. This herb is the best choice to lower cholesterol, promote circulation of blood, reduce rapid heart rate, and give relief to the stress caused in the muscles of the heart.

It also helps in reducing blood pressure by decreasing the swelling. Scientific studies prove that this action is associated with the glycosides and the phytochemicals that are found in motherwort. It is also used to treat nervous cardiac problems. This herb is best when had as a tea. You can reduce the bitterness by adding some sweeteners or spices. The herb is also available as an extract or capsule.

Green Tea (Camellia sinensis)

Green tea is known to be a miracle herb. Recently, studies have been conducted about one of the main ingredients in green tea called epigallocatechin gallate, which is a potent antioxidant that is proven beneficial in safeguarding the heart.

Drinking five to six cups of green tea everyday is considered to be advantageous in treating cardio vascular disease. The extract can also be taken in the capsule form.

Ginger

Ginger is a significant herb used for general maintenance of heart health. Consuming a small piece of ginger regularly is a great way to keep heart attacks at bay. It also decreases cholesterol and blood pressure and helps in alleviating blood clots.

This involvement of ginger helps in preventing the clots that imbeds in the tapered coronary arteries, which could lead to heart attacks. Ginger can be consumed raw or could be prepared into tea and consumed.
